This is a day long workshop: Layering a Pattern using Digital & Analog Mediums with Colombia based graphic designer & Creatis student Isabel Bonilla. The workshop will focus on:

  1. The connection between digital (Adobe Illustrator) and analog (Block Print) mediums using layering as an example.

  2. The evolution of our tools, and how we use them to transcend our limitations.

Similar to our classes, the workshop is hands-on and as you learn you get to experience layering a pattern in Block Print & Adobe Illustrator. Please bring your laptop for a better experience. We’ll sign you up for a free 7-day Adobe Illustrator trial.

What to expect from this workshop:

  1. A peek into how blocks are made. (Block Print)

  2. Learn to layer a pattern in block print using a motive or all-over design. Create your own unique print by selecting designs and colors. (Block Print)

  3. Doodle a pattern in Illustrator. Outline strokes, arrange elements. Apply color, arrange colors by layers. (Adobe Illustrator)

  4. Make usable repeat swatches. (Adobe Illustrator)

Takeaway:
